On the Inlet

On the Inlet is an institution in the town of Port Douglas, with locals and tourists alike flocking here each night for some of the best and freshest seafood in the region.

The restaurant has actually been built out over the water of the Dickson Inlet which adds a tropical feel to the place and at lunch, diners are invited to try their succulent bucket of prawns for just $18.

Feast on the delicious and fresh local prawns and when you have peeled them feel free to feed the scraps to the small fish which live beneath the decking.

For those coming for dinner why not arrive a little early and indulge in a pre-dinner cocktail and at 5pm watch On the Inlet’s resident fish, George the Groper come for his daily feed. George has been visiting the team at On the Inlet for years now and gives diners a real show. The 250kg fish, one of the biggest in the waters, delights the crowds as he devours a tuna frame right before your eyes.

More than just entertainment, On the Inlet’s menu is one that keeps diners coming back again and again. For the ultimate seafood experience choose your own mud crab or crayfish from the live tank and the chefs will serve it one of three ways, Singapore Chilli, Garlic Black Bean or simply steamed with citrus butter.

For those that don’t eat seafood, On the Inlet has you covered offering steak, pork, duck and chicken dishes.

On the Inlet is open seven days for lunch and dinner.
